New Bakes and Old Favourites
With the Thames Ditton Christmas Fair fast approaching (Sunday 1st December!), we’re busy adding the finishing touches to our preparations. We’ve dusted off our fairy lights and, more importantly, have been testing the new range of Christmas bakes we’ll be launching on the day. One of the perks of the job!
Our regular customers will be pleased to hear we’ll be selling our popular Christmas classics, including our take on the traditional mince pie. We add a dollop of mincemeat to a crunchy sweet pastry base and top it with our house frangipane to create a mince pie with a difference. I’d suggest 10 seconds in the microwave and a spoonful of clotted cream or good-quality vanilla ice cream to take it to dessert level.
We’ll also have our brioche de Noël, which was something of a hit last Christmas. This panettone-inspired butter brioche bun is studded with dried fruits and brushed with marmalade syrup. It’s equally delicious on its own or toasted, either with a cuppa or for breakfast.
To spice things up, we’ll be introducing our ginger spice cookie. It’s crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, richly flavoured with black treacle, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. We expect it’s delicious dunked in tea, but our testers couldn’t resist tucking in before the kettle even boiled!
Talking of temptation, our new Biscoff brownie is pure indulgence. Just ten seconds in the microwave and a scoop of your favourite ice cream will transform it into an irresistible dessert (if you’re prepared to wait!).
So, come and see us this Sunday and tell us what you think of our new and not-so-new Christmas bakes. Have we developed a cookie to rival the ever-popular chocolate chip? You decide.
And finally, a reminder that our Christmas order book will open the day after the fair – Monday 2nd December – and close on Monday 16th December.
A bientôt!
